Hutto is located at 30&deg;32&prime;40&Prime;N 97&deg;32&prime;43&Prime;W (30.544517, &minus;97.545198), about seven miles (11 km) east of Round Rock and 22 miles (35 km) northeast of Austin.
According to the&nbsp;United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.75&nbsp;square miles (20.1&nbsp;km2), all of it land.

Historically, Hutto was established in 1876 when the&nbsp;International-Great Northern Railroad&nbsp;passed through land owned by James Emory Hutto (1824-1914), for whom the community is named. Railroad officials designated the stop Hutto Station. James Hutto was born in Alabama on June 8, 1824; he came to Texas in 1847 and moved his family to Williamson County in 1855. A slave, Adam Orgain, was actually the first person to live in the immediate Hutto vicinity, having been placed out on the blackland prairie by his owner to watch after the cattle and livestock holdings. In 1876, James Hutto sold 50 acres (200,000&nbsp;m2) to the Texas Land Company of New York for a town site and railroad right of way. Hutto had become a wealthy cattleman in Williamson County, but in 1885, he left Hutto and moved to Waco and entered the hardware business. Other early settlers in the area were the Carpenter, Davis, Evans, Farley, Goodwin, Highsmith, Johnson, Magle, Payne, Saul, Weight, Womack, and Wright families. Other people living in Hutto during the 1890s included the Armstrongs, the Ahlbergs, M.B. Kennedy, the Hugh Kimbro family, William McCutcheon, Green Randolph, J.B. Ross and the Tisdales. Soon, a great many more people, primarily Swedish and German immigrants, came to this area to farm and ranch and begin their new lives in America.

The town of Lakeway was founded on the site of a 2,700-acre ranch owned by Houston oilman and rancher Jack (Jake) Josey. In early 1962 three Houston business men associated with the Gulfmont Hotel Company&mdash;G. Flint Sawtelle, John H. Crooker, Jr., and Lee Blocker&mdash;obtained a sixty-day option to purchase the land and plan a hotel and resort community. The name Lakeway was a natural sequel to Gulfmont's Fairway Motor Hotel in McAllen, Texas, so named because it overlooked the fairway of a golf course. Construction of the hotel began in October 1962 and the grand opening was July 12, 1963. Around the same time the Lakeway Land Company was formed with Flint Sawtelle as president, for the development of real estate. In July 1974 a substantial majority of resident and nonresident property owners voted to incorporate with the consent of the city of Austin, and the 1,200-acre village of Lakeway resulted.

Leander is a city in Williamson and Travis counties in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 26,521 at the 2010 census, and 49,234 at the 2017 census estimate. A suburb just north of Austin, and part of the Greater Austin metropolitan area, it is the fourth-fastest-growing city in the state of Texas.

Barton Creek is a census-designated place (CDP) in Travis County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the CDP population was 3,077. Barton Creek is ranked second in Texas based on per capita income. As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,589 people, 707 households, and 509 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 296.4 people per square mile (114.5/km2). There were 754 housing units at an average density of 140.6/sq mi (54.3/km2). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93.20% White, 2.39% African American, 0.19% Native American, 2.77% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.50% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.71% of the population. There were 707 households, out of which 22.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.6% were married couples living together, 3.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% were non-families. 22.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 1.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.25 and the average family size was 2.63. In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 17.6% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 40.1% from 45 to 64, and 8.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females, there were 100.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.7 males. The median income for a household in the CDP was $158,623, and the median income for a family was $172,909. Males had a median income of $100,000 versus $44,716 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $110,504. About 1.3% of families and 3.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under the age of eighteen or sixty-five or over.
